When it comes to engagement sessions, picking a spot can be hard to decided on! I’ve put together some of my favourite spots in the city and a few tips to help you choose!
Tip #1: Choose a location that is different/ looks opposite to your wedding venue! If you’re wedding is going to be garden themed, maybe choose a more urban feel for your engagement photos! That way you get the best of both worlds!
Tip #2: Choose a location that represents you two! Maybe this is the spot where you went on your first date, or where the proposal happened, or a place you love going on a date night/ Sunday afternoon!
Tip #3: Ask your photographer to choose for you! If you’re totally stumped, we have lots of spots up our sleeves we’d love to take you to! Challenge accepted!
If you’re looking for that industrial urban street feel, the Exchange District is your jackpot. All the character buildings, cute shops, and cool art, this is a perfect spot for my hipster couples who often find themselves seeing a local band at Kings Head & their go to brunch spot is Clementine or Miss Browns!
Do I even have to explain this one?! The Forks is a classic place for engagement photos and there are endless spots, so you’ll never get the same photos as the next person. Whether it’s skating outside on the river trail in winter or sharing a flight of beers at The Common, there’s so much to do & see at The Forks.
If you have a dog and live on the west side of the city, you probably already know of this go to spot! I love shooting at Assiniboine Forest because it’s much more quiet than Assiniboine Park, but still get the same feel with all of the trails and trees! This is a very pet friendly location if you want to bring your pup along for your engagement session, which is always a really great idea!
There is always a new coffee shop popping up in Winnipeg and they are no doubt super stylish and cool spots to visit and cozy up with your bae! My personal favourite is Thom Bargen (either Sherbrook Street or Kennedy Street), it’s chill, super modern style and of course the coffee is great too!
Bird’s Hill is always a go to for engagement sessions, because there’s so much variety! Within the park, there are trails, lush forest, beachside, prairie fields & sandy dunes. What more could you want?! Now you just have to choose where in the park you want to shoot! If you have no idea, I know Birds Hill Provincial Park like the back of my hand, so I always have lots of suggestions! Plus, post photoshoot fuel at Pineridge Hollow?!
Notice I added a 6th place?! I couldn’t leave this out! Sunset walks on the beach just hit a whole new level! This is a perfect location if you’re cabin people! An hour before sunset when everything turns golden is going to be the ultimate time to take engagement photos. So prepare yourself for some fun loving, romantic photos of you & your boo dancing on the beach and maybe taking a dip in the water!
