The ceremony spaces

One of my favourite parts about Lilystone Gardens is how naturally beautiful the ceremony spaces are.

The gardens, trees and landscaping create such a lovely backdrop that you really don’t need much extra décor. Whether you’re planning something simple or something more elaborate, the space already feels full of life. My favourite ceremony spot is facing the beautiful pond, which is a perfect backdrop.

If your timeline allows, I usually recommend planning your ceremony a little later in the afternoon. The sunlight becomes softer, the colours are richer and everyone looks their best. It also makes the transition into portraits and cocktail hour feel much more relaxed.

Reception space

After the ceremony, the celebration naturally flows into Lilystone Gardens’ reception space, so there’s no need for guests to travel between venues. Everyone can settle in, enjoy cocktail hour and continue celebrating without missing a moment.

The reception space is bright, welcoming and relaxed, with large windows that bring in plenty of natural light and views of the surrounding gardens. Even once you’re inside, you still feel connected to the beautiful outdoor setting.

One of my favourite things is how easy it is to step outside for a few sunset portraits before joining your guests back inside. You never have to travel far, which means you get more time celebrating with the people you love instead of spending it in the car.

My favourite places for wedding photos

Honestly, one of the biggest perks of getting married at Lilystone Gardens is that we don’t have to go searching for beautiful locations. They’re everywhere. Some of my favourite spots are right near the pond, the flower gardens, the tree lined path on the way to the ceremony spot and the open grass overlooking the fields.

Lilystone Gardens also has a great variety for a rainy day wedding, from the indoor reception space next to the fireplace to the greenhouse.

A few seasonal tips

One of the reasons I love photographing here is that it looks different every season.

Spring brings fresh greenery and soft blossoms.

Summer is full of vibrant gardens and lush foliage.

Fall adds warm colours and beautiful golden light.

Every season has its own charm, which means your wedding will feel unique no matter when you choose to celebrate.

Because so much of the venue is outdoors, it’s also worth thinking about the weather. Having a flexible timeline, and a backup plan just in case, helps everyone stay relaxed if Mother Nature decides to surprise us.

Timeline advice from a photographer

If I could give every Lilystone Gardens couple a few pieces of advice, it would be these:

– Plan your ceremony later in the day if possible.
– Leave yourself a little breathing room between events.
– Make time for golden hour portraits.
– Don’t try to cram every minute with activities.

The best photos almost always happen when you’re able to slow down, laugh together and simply enjoy being present.
